The Kelly House is a perfectly renovated historic home in an amazing artsy village on top of the world: Jerome, Arizona. Here you can have it all: the best views in town, plus a true "home away" with all you need for a weekend, a week or even a month enjoying the treasures of the region.

Whether you sit back on the beautiful covered porch or side patio (both with comfortable seating and dining areas), or whether you curl up on the living room sofas or swivel rocker, you will be awed by the vast sunrise and sunset views of the Verde Valley, Sedona's red cliffs and Flagstaff's San Francisco Peaks, as well as the closeup charm of Jerome, once home to one of the world's richest copper mines.

Eat at the many nearby restaurants or get groceries in Cottonwood for the beautiful kitchen, fully equipped with dishes and cookware, stove, refrigerator with icemaker, dishwasher, microwave, disposal, coffee maker, toaster oven, blender, filtered water, spices, basic condiments and even a digital pressure cooker for easy prep of rice, stews, beans and more.

The dining area has a chandelier and table that expands to seat 8. The living room features a high end comfortable sofa set, lovely lighting and with beautiful landscape paintings by local artists.(susanpitcairn.com). Satellite TV, landline, WiFi, videos, books, games, desk, and a washer/dryer set are all provided and every guest is offered a complementary copy of "Spirit of the Earth," an inpiring and colorful book of art and poetry by owner/artist Susan Pitcairn.

After settling in, be sure to head downstairs to enjoy unique Arizona wines in manager Ginger MacKenzie's gorgeous "Vino Zona" wine tasting room and explore the shops and restaurants of Jerome, just steps away. At the end of the day soak in the beautiful cultured marble tub in the lovely remodelled bathroom and head off to DreamLand on comfy queen beds with comforters in one of the two bedrooms, each decorated with lovely furniture and more art.

THINGS TO DO:

Located just 25 miles from Sedona and a day trip to the Grand Canyon, this location is perfect as a headquarters for great adventures.

Start with quirky, beautiful Jerome. Once a roaring copper town of 15,000, this mile high gem was a ghost town in the 1950's when the mines closed. Today it flourishes again, and 400 residents welcome not only history buffs but art lovers to over 30 galleries and studios. A mix of arrested decay and artful elegance, the entire town is on the National Historic Register, which means its character is unique and well protected. Shopping and browsing galleries, shops, wine tasting rooms and more in both Jerome and Old Town Cottonwood is a day full of fun, punctuated by meals at tasty restaurants.

Hiking is probably the most spectacular activity with hundreds of trails from easy to difficult. Sedona is a beautiful 25 minute drive away, full of tourist activities, including the beautiful Tlaquepaque old Mexico style shopping complext. The Verde Canyon Railroad and Tuzigoot - incredible Indian ruins are just down the hill in Clarkdale. There are 8 local wineries, all an easy drive from Jerome. If you love photography or painting, Jerome offers limitless opportunities for your artistic pursuits.

SPECIAL EVENTS:

On the first Saturday of each month be sure to come to the Jerome Art Walk, selected by The Arizona Republic as a 1 weekend getaway.

Metaphysical buffs will enjoy the Ghost Walk, presented by the Jerome Historical Society on the second weekend of October.

Like to dress up? Our Halloween Ball, hosted by the Volunteer Fire Department, is one of the best costume parties in the US.

This House Has It All

Three of us stayed two nights at Kelly House. We were wowed from the time we walked in at the coziness and beauty of the decor and the amazing view out the plate glass window in the front room of the deck and the vast valley below. A binder loaded with thoughtful information about the town, places to eat, surrounding areas... everything you could need, was very helpful. Bedrooms are a bit tight with luggage, but are very cute, comfortable and we all slept well. There was a chest of drawers and some wall pegs in our room for organizing clothes. Really nice bathroom. One quirk to be aware of is that the steam from the shower (even when the mirror is not fogged up) sets off the smoke alarm, which is right outside the bathroom door, so open the shower window to wick out any steam before opening the door. Once you know this, it's no big deal. The kitchen is really nice and thoughtfully included a large assortment of spices, some condiments in the fridge, butter, and a few other cooking essentials. We love the town of Jerome, and it's nooks and hidden places. This house perfectly fits the bill if you want to live like a local (in style) for a while. Ginger was very helpful and responsive, and her wine shop downstairs, Vino Zona, is a place I'd like to spend more time in for sure.

Wonderful view!

We enjoyed our stay. The view was great and the Kelly House was clean and convenient.
