Overnight at Althouse-Higgins is the result of a complete renovation of an c.1845 house using modern materials ad technologies creating a unique accommodation featuring cathedral ceilings, original wood floors, AC/heat controlled in each room, fully equipped kitchen, Carrera marble bathroom, child friendly environment with full central station monitored fire alarm and security system. Cable TV and internet access are provided. This fall will see a gas fireplace in the main room for guest use. Washer/dryer is located in the apartment. Area is 18m to Hudson NY with movies, great restaurants, music venues and great antiquing. Great Barrington MA is 9m to the east and home to more great restaurants, music, movies and a terrific antiquing community a little further south in Sheffield MA. Museums such as The Clark, the Rockwell Museum, the Gables, Olana, and more are just minutes away. Fishing, golf, biking, an aerial adventure park and hiking are just a few of the outdoor activities in the area. Skiing is fabulous in the winter with slopes such as Catamount Jiminy Peak and Butternut minutes down the road. No lack of things to do on your visit.

Amazingly Quiet in t
We were a little apprehensive renting a place right on rt. 23 in the center of Hillsdale. We figured it was likely to be noisy from passing trucks and other traffic. It was not. The owners must have invested heavily in sound-proofing materials and high quality windows, because the road noise was a non-factor. We honestly forgot how close we were to the road. The apartment itself is nicely renovated, comfortable, functional and clean. Perfect for a weekend away. We spent Saturday morning at the Farmer's Market 5 minutes from the house and then brought everything we bought back to the apartment for lunch and dinner. Crossroads Cafe is two houses down, and the new tea house, Casana, is just across the street. The rest of the weekend we spent hiking in the Taconics and riding our bicycles.
