Description

Get off the grid (no electricity) and get back to nature in comfort in this Concord Pond Get-Away.

The Camp/Cabin: In Maine, seasonal cabins are called "camps". This more quiet and private camp sleeps 7 people in beds - 1 Queen in the loft, 1 Double in a bedroom, 1 King or 2 twins on the porch, and 1 Twin in a bedroom. It has a large screened-in porch, propane oven/stove, battery and solar lights, composting outhouse, and hand pump (well) for drinking water. It sits on almost 2 acres of Maine forest with 200' of waterfront. There is also a fire ring and dock for your enjoyment. While this cabin has only the bare basics, it's so much more comfortable than pitching a tent! Here are some of the supplies we have in the cabin for you to use -

** Kitchen: percolator for coffee, silverware, plates, cups, mugs, small assortment of pots, pans, cooking utensils (please bring what you really need), dish soap, sponge, 1 roll of paper towels, a couple/few trash bags, etc. Please bring anything you know you really want for your camping adventure.

** Bedrooms: battery powered candles for light, beds, pillows. We would be happy to provide linens (bedding, towels, and dish towels) for an additional $25 fee.

** Composting Outhouse: toilet paper There will be some when you arrive. Please bring more if you're staying a while.

** Screened-In Porch: battery powered and solar powered lights, dining table, 6 chairs, 2 stools, daybed with trundle for sleeping surrounded by the sights and sounds of the Maine woods.

** Waterfront: dock, chairs, area for putting in boats or swimming. Feel free to bring your own canoes, kayaks, paddle boards, etc. We have a pretty steep hill to get to the water, but the public boat landing is quite close by. We do have lily pads, frogs, turtles, and much wildlife on our waterfront. Some of the best swimming involves swimming/boating to Blueberry Island and jumping from the rocks!

** Fire Ring: 2 chairs, a small picnic table, and a homemade bench are currently there. Feel free to bring the 2 chairs up from the dock too. Be sure to keep the bucket full of water (in case the fire escapes the ring) and use Maine firewood when you enjoy s'mores, stories, songs, etc!

Concord Pond Vibe: Only 20 minutes from Bethel, this camp feels like it's lightyears away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. The small pond is buzzing with happy sounds from people canoeing, kayaking, paddle boarding, swimming, and just enjoying the Maine outdoors.

Things to Do: In addition to all the activities you can do on the pond, many people like to hike to Little Concord Pond, Speckled Mountain, Bald Mountain, or Mt. Zircon. The dirt roads and some trails are good for mountain biking and there are wild berries to be picked if you come at the right times. Many people bring dirt bikes or ATVs to enjoy the area, and this could be an excellent home base for hunters in the fall. Other people just like to curl up with a good book and unwind. The posspibilities are limitless.

Super rustic, deep woods feel

We rented the cabin for 5 for 2 nights, it is set in the deep woods with a path down to the dock. If your looking for a great getaway this is the place. The lake is wonderful for swimming, but beware the wind can take your canoe or blow up boat, clear across the lake. There is a wonderful array of wild mushrooms and truffles on the property along with a huge blueberry bush just outside the cabin door. You can hear loons and owls at night and we even glimpsed a young moose this morning early before check out. The cabin, while cozy and secluded, lacks any type of shower area so be prepared and if you are a cook bring your pots and pans and cooking utensils. I would definitely come back again. Great hosts, very accommodating. Thank you for sharing your home. Kelly Curry

Quiet

Love this little cabin that feels very roomy! Great dock an a nice quiet large pond. The cabin was very clean and had most items we needed. The screened in porch that you can also sleep on is a great place to hang out on. My only wish is that you could use the propane lanterns on the wall instead of the solar lanterns so we could see better or not need to use headlamps at night.
